Documentary Wedding Photographer in Austin, TX

I chase light for a living. Turns out, love has the best kind.

I’m the kind of person who will happily wake up early just to watch the sunrise, then spend the rest of the day on a long hike or creating art.

I live in Austin now, but before arriving here, I spent seven years traveling, teaching landscape photography workshops, and saying yes to just about any adventure. My camera came everywhere with me.

I’ve lost my shoes in mud more times than I can count. I’ve been on mountain summits at sunset so moved I couldn’t tell if I was laughing or crying.

"What stood out most was the calm energy she brought to every moment. On a day that could have easily felt hectic or overwhelming, Marcela made it feel effortless. She has this rare ability to both blend into the background and gently guide the vibe, which helped me stay grounded, present, and fully able to take in what was happening."

You might know that feeling...

when something ordinary suddenly feels sacred. That's what I bring to documentary wedding photography in Austin and the Texas Hill Country.

How I photograph weddings

The same patience and presence I once gave to mountain landscapes, I now give to the people and moments that shape a life — bringing that same curiosity into every wedding I photograph. Noticing the in-between moments, because I live there too.

Love shows up in its most honest form on this day—often in the pauses, the glances, and the quiet moments in between.

Life these days

In 2024, I married Dan in the Hill Country, and we traded airports for a cozy home. We still chase sunsets—just sometimes closer to the kitchen than a mountain summit.

These days, when I’m not photographing weddings, a lot of my weekends look like painting walls, mounting cabinets, and slowly learning how to build a home with our own hands.

I think that's why I notice the quiet things — I've learned to slow down and pay attention.

Working with my hands

When I moved to Austin, I fell unexpectedly in love with embroidery. There’s something about it that feels like a conversation with my grandma and our roots—turning moments into keepsakes meant to be held, not just seen.

With me, you’ll get photos that feel like you’re living your wedding day all over again—every happy tear, every glance, exactly as it happened.

Oh—and one more thing.

I’m Mexican. Which means dancing, hugging often, and crying happy tears are pretty much in my DNA.

Every story starts somewhere.

If you’re planning a day that’s meaningful, personal, and full of heart, I’d love to hear all about it.
